The Brief: Unit4 Care was looking a way to enter the intermuraal zorg (healthcare taking place in care homes and other care facilities) as their growth is exponential. As of 2022 15% of the Dutch labor market works in healthcare and continues to grow.

Starting point: Leverage commercial connections to do a deepdive of the day to day activities in intramuraal homes. Identify key jobs to be done, painpoints and test multiple solutions with all user in the market parallel to their usual process.

The Insights: For patients with chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetis etc, regular measurement of blood and others is needed. A considerable share of patient fall under this category [confidential]. Upon submitting the measurements over the phone and documented on paper, the nurse is confirmed to administer medicine by a doctor over the phone. The entire process takes on average 33 steps and 3 different people's attention and approval. Interviews confirmed that manual mistakes and delays of approvals are the key pain points in the process. The consequences of these are significant for the patient's wellbeing and need to be brought to a minimum. Nurses have a certain amount of time to spent with a patient and that puts extra pressure of their performance and attention that they can pay to each individual.

Consumer Insights and Research: I trained the corporate team on how to prepare and conduct extensive user interviews to understand the wider business context, process and also emotional jobs involved in this complex environment.

Data Collection: Engaged with over 500 users through surveys and interviews to gather detailed insights.

Ideation and Concept Development: Conducted 10 ideation sessions with cross functional teams from Unit4 and external experts to brainstorm potential solutions and refine them into viable concepts.

Prototyping and Testing: Developed a test brand (MeetMattie) prototypes of the app and conducted iterative testing with users to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
Testing Rounds: Completed 3 rounds of iterative testing with more than 200 participants.

Full-Funnel Testing: Created mock-ups and conducted full-funnel testing, from user interface design to functionality, ensuring all aspects met user needs.
Mock-Ups: Developed and tested 5 different UI designs.

Implementation and Launch: Finalised the app development and integrated it with Unit4’s existing systems, followed by a comprehensive marketing and user onboarding campaign. Demos at HealthCare Conferences and client pitches.

The solution: Having an understanding of GDPR and the important human led actions, I explored 3 different approaches on how to shorten the job map to 11 steps and include smart reporting to drive one central view of the patient's medical history.

Time to value: 90 days
The business outcome:
Launch in 90 days in 2019, used by 2300+ medical professionals across the Netherlands.
The MeetMattie app had 10,000 downloads just in the first month of launch.

Unit4 Cura later got acquired by Fierit in 2019 and later 2021 Tenziger, Dutch healthcare IT provider, announced it would integrate its subsidiaries Medicore, Fierit, and Cure4 under one roof as the firm gears up to ride the wave of demand for digital solutions and services in the healthcare market.
